Root of the dispute

The battle began in 2022 after Pitt sued over Jolie’s 2021 sale of her Miraval winery stake to Tenute del Mondo, alleging an agreement that sales require mutual approval. Jolie denied the pact, countersued and accused Pitt of a vindictive campaign. Lawyers on both sides have traded claims about NDAs, damages and key communications. The former couple, who share six children, finalized their divorce in December 2024.
