Elijah Allman, 50, is in custody at a New Hampshire psychiatric hospital and faces multiple criminal charges across two cases. The hospital initiated a guardianship on July 7; Cher sought to have his half-brothers Chaz Bono and Devon Allman named. A Sept. 1 hearing was delayed to Dec. 1 after Elijah did not appear. King-Allman filed to be conservator on Aug. 18.
The couple married in 2013. King-Allman first filed for divorce in 2021 (dismissed Feb. 2024), filed again in April 2025 and that was dismissed in June 2026. Cher first sought a temporary conservatorship for his estate in Dec. 2023, dismissed it in Sept. 2024, later said his situation worsened, and a subsequent bid was denied in April. King-Allman’s filing says relatives repeatedly tried to impose a conservatorship and warns a mother-selected conservator could harm his recovery.
